Cluster headaches typically cause pain on one side of the head. Cluster headaches happen in groups (cluster periods) lasting over a period of several weeks or even months. There’s not always pain, though. In-between the cluster headaches are times when you might be pain free for months or even years. Cluster headaches affect men more frequently than women.
