Stop Bleeding Gums With These 3 Tips!

The Oral Health Foundation’s National Smile Month Survey of 2019 revealed new facts about bleeding gums. This survey revealed that while most people will experience this condition in their lifetime, about 50 percent experienced bleeding in the past year alone.

Even if it is common, bleeding gums is not normal and shouldn’t be ignored. It’s usually a symptom of an underlying condition. Here are three things to do to stop or prevent this condition;

Brush twice daily with a fluoride toothpaste

Simply brushing your teeth twice a day will go a long way to help.

You can do this during the day and also at night. It’s important that you use a fluoride toothpaste and brush for at least two minutes. While you may spit out the excess toothpaste after brushing, avoid rinsing out your mouth with water so the fluoride can stay on your teeth for as long as possible. You should also consider using interdental brushes or floss.

Use fluoride mouthwash

A fluoride mouthwash can clear the mouth of debris and prevent plaque accumulation. It helps to keep the mouth fresh while also boosting gum health. Using fluoride mouthwash can help you prevent problems with your gums.

Make healthy diet and lifestyle choices

Our diets, as well as our lifestyle choices, can affect our gum health. As far as diet is concerned, it should be rich in vitamins, minerals, fruits and veggies. Habits such as smoking and alcohol use can also expose the gums to a variety of risks.

Finally ...

It’s crucial that you see a dentist right away whenever you notice the slightest issue with your gums. Having perfect gum health is important, and this has benefits that extend beyond just the mouth. It can help the individual against tooth loss, halitosis, diabetes, heart attack, stroke and a host of other far more severe conditions.
